COVID 19 VACCINATIONS IN BORTH

230.  The Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting and asked Cllr Ray Quant to give an update on the situation to date. Following the update members were given the opportunity to voice their concerns. Concerns were raised over the vaccination roll out programme in Ceredigion and the length and time it took to supply and distribute the vaccine to the residents of North Ceredigion.  This meant that the whole of Ceredigion was being served by Carmarthen and Cardigan and those living in the north of the county were being asked to travel to Cardigan for their vaccinations. There were also concerns at the length of time it had taken for the Llanbadarn Campus to be set up as a vaccination centre.  However members are pleased that the centre is now up and running and GP’s are beginning to vaccinate and reaching out to the vulnerable within the community.  Whilst the situation appears to be improving councillors feel that there has been a failure in the system and that there was no forward planning for a situation such as this. It was proposed by Cllr Morris and seconded by Cllr Bainbridge to send a letter to Elin Jones AM, Steve Moore, Chief Executive Officer and Peter Skitt, County Director, both of Hywel Dda Health Authority.

Members also resolved with a proposal from Cllr Bainbridge and seconded by Cllr Pryce Jones to send letters of thanks to Borth Surgery for their effort in rolling out the vaccination programme within the community and to the BSPFA for providing the community hall as a vaccination centre.

MEETING CLOSED

231.  There being no further business the Chairperson closed the meeting at 8.10pm.
